The photography exhibition “Between Light and Shadow” by renowned poet and Emeritus Professor of the Department of Portuguese at the University of Macau (UM), Yao Feng, was held from December 19, 2025, to January 31, 2026, at the Macau Scientific and Cultural Centre (CCCM) in Lisbon, Portugal.
Co-organized by the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre (CPC) of UM and CCCM, the exhibition featured 35 photographic works and 15 original poems recently created by Professor Yao. Through a unique “poetic gaze,” the exhibition interweaved the multicultural landscapes of Macau, Tibet, Lisbon, and Prague, inviting viewers to reflect deeply on nature and the spiritual world.
“Between Light and Shadow” breaks away from the traditional framework of photography exhibitions by constructing a dialogic space through the pairing of poetry and imagery. This interaction between photographs and verses explores the profound connections between light, shadow, nature, and spirituality.
Professor Yao Feng was the winner of “Rougang Poetry Award”, “Changyao Poetry Award”, “Macau Literary Award” and other poetry and translation awards. He was also awarded the “Ordem Militar de Santiago de Espada” medal by the President of Portugal. As an artist, he has held several solo exhibitions, and has also been a curator for various exhibitions.
