On August 21, 2024, Prof. Zhang Jing, Director of the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre (CPC) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and Prof. Chen Zhong, Deputy Director of the Confucius Institute, received Prof. Salvatore Giuffrè, former Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Malta, and presented him with the book “LAOZI, O PATRIARCA DO DAO: Quinze palestras sobre Laozi e o Daode Jing”, published by the CPC.

Prof. Salvatore Giuffrè ‘s research covers a wide range of areas, including modern Chinese language and literature, comparative Chinese and Western literature, Chinese poetry and classical Chinese philosophy. His translation of The Analects of Confucius into Maltese has greatly facilitated cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia.

The visit of Prof. Giuffrè has further strengthened inter-university ties and laid a solid foundation for more in-depth cooperation in the future.
