With the theme of “China’s Technology and Innovation”, this contest aims to encourage students from higher education institutions in Mainland China and Macao to take on the mission of international communication, to tell the China’s story and to show the development of contemporary China through creative short film from a personal perspective.

Eligibility

Participants

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate (master’s and doctor’s degree) students major in Portuguese Studies from higher education institutions in Mainland China and the Macao Special Administrative Region;
  • Students can either participate as an individual or in a group of 3 members or less. Each contestant or group can only submit one application.

Video specification

  • Length: 3-5 minutes;
  • Format: MPEG/MP4/MOV;
  • Production tools: No restrictions on filming equipment, cell phones, camcorders, etc. can be used;
  • Video resolution: 1280 x 720 (720p), up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p) is preferred;
  • Subtitling: Bilingual in Portuguese (European Portuguese or Brazilian Portuguese) and Chinese (simplified or traditional);
  • Dubbing: Portuguese;
  • Audio: Mono/Dual channel;
  • File size: Depends on the video platform.

Submission:

  • Participants must pre-register at https://www.wjx.top/vm/r3BsZnT.aspx# and fill out their personal or team information, the predefined theme, and a synopsis of the video content in Chinese (approximately 70 characters). The deadline for pre-registration is September 10, 2025.
  • After pre-registration, the Organizing Committee will notify participants by email with a link to have access to the main registration form and further details about the contest. Participants will fill out the registration form with the necessary information, including the final theme of the video and a brief description of the short video in Chinese and Portuguese (approximately 150 characters or words in each language), in addition to the personal or team information.
  • The video must be uploaded to YouTube or BiliBili, set to UNPUBLISHED, ensure that the video link is valid, and send the YouTube or BiliBili video link in a timely manner to the link provided in the Organizing Committee’s email by October 20, 2025.

Evaluation

The organizers will form a review panel that will review all video submissions and select one “1st Prize”, two “2nd Prizes”, four “3rd Prizes” and seven “Merit Prizes”

Result announcement

The results will be published on the website of the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre on November 20, 2025, and the winners will be notified by telephone or email. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in early December at the School of International Studies of the Communication University of China, with specific details to be announced at a later date.

Additional provisions
  • All videos submitted to the contest must be original and must not have been previously published.
  • The organizers reserve the right not to accept videos that may be considered inappropriate or that do not meet the theme or the requirements of the contest.
  • Participants must bear all costs relating to their participation in this contest, including production costs. No requests for monetary compensation or claims will be accepted by the organizers.
  • Participants must guarantee the veracity and correctness of the data provided, and may not use third-party data or participate under a false identity. Falsity or inaccuracy of data, or proven accusation, will result in disqualification.
  • By submitting their videos, contestants accept and agree to the following conditions:
    1. The organizers obtain the copyright of the works submitted and the right to edit, modify or use any content, in whole or in part, of the video;
    2. Participants agree that the organizers reserve the right to use all works for publicity, exhibition and printing purposes, including, but not limited to, its official website, media (print or online), without having to obtain prior consent from the participants or pay any copyright fees;
    3. Participants must obtain the prior consent of the people filmed, actors or interviewees. In the case of children under 18, the consent of their parents or guardians is required;
    4. If any video is suspected of plagiarism, the organizer reserves the right to disqualify the entry without prior notice;
    5. The content and relevant concepts of the work must be free of any content that is illegal, abusive, harassing or threatening, pornographic, misleading, defamatory, violent, inappropriate, infringes on the privacy of third parties, commercial or religious propaganda, etc;
    6. If the work contains any musical elements, it must comply with the following terms:
      • The images, music, sounds or fragments used in the works must be original and not infringe copyright. If third-party copyright and copy-related materials exist, the participant must first obtain written consent for the use of such data or material;
      • Participants must ensure that the selected song does not involve any copyright issues. The organizers will not be liable for any copyright infringement. Entries submitted must comply with the specification mentioned.
  • If any of the specifications are violated, the works will be disqualified.
  • In the event of any updates or changes, these will be published on the Bilingual Centre’s official website (https://cpc.fah.um.edu.mo/), without any prior notice to the participants.
  • The organizers reserve the right to make the final decision and has the right to amend the above regulations.
