On the morning of March 10, a delegation of teachers and students from Shanghai Foreign Language School Affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) visited the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre (CPC) of the University of Macau (UM). The visit was part of a series of cultural exchange activities designed to deepen the students’ understanding of the Portuguese language and culture, as well as to strengthen the cooperation between the Center and secondary schools in Mainland China.
During the visit, the delegation received a warm welcome. Professor Zhang Jing, Director of the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre, provided a detailed introduction to the Center’s history and mission. Professor Zhang emphasized that the Center is dedicated to promoting Portuguese language teaching and cultural dissemination, serving as an important bridge for cultural exchange between China and Portuguese-speaking nations. She also shared the Center’s development journey, its operational model, and the achievements it has made in recent years, which sparked great interest among the students.
Following the introduction, students took part in a Portuguese language knowledge contest covering basic vocabulary, grammar, and cultural aspects. Through quick-response questions, the participants not only tested their Portuguese skills but also deepened their understanding of the Portuguese-speaking cultures.
The final activity involved the handmade creation of Portuguese-style tiles and cork pieces. With creativity, they skillfully combined tiles decorated with typical patterns and eco-friendly cork materials, producing unique works that were both practical and artistically crafted.
The visit concluded in a joyful atmosphere. The teachers and students from Shanghai Foreign Language School expressed their gratitude to the Bilingual Teaching and Training Center for the thoughtful organization and expressed their hope for opportunities for such exchanges in the future.
